31st Annual Historic Preservation Awards

For 30 years, more than 230 recipients have been recognized for a wide variety of preservation efforts in 40 different categories. This annual event has become the MHA’s largest fundraiser to support its non-profit mission of collecting, preserving and sharing the history of Manchester.

Manchester’s Masters – An Evening with the Arts

Join us for an interactive event at the Millyard Museum and meet ten of Manchester's artists from the past and see their works on display! Partnering with the Majestic Theatre, live actors will engage guests in the telling of first person accounts of some of Manchester's most prominent artists, including Henry Herrick, Lucien Gosselin, Maud Briggs Knowlton, and Bob Montana.

Exhibit Opening: “Posted! A Collection of Posters from Manchester’s Past”

Throughout history, posters have played a critical role in conveying information. They can advertise products, announce events, publicize instructions, and urge action. Some are utilitarian in design, while others can be considered works of art.
Join us as we open a fun and colorful exhibition at the Millyard Museum that explores over one hundred years of posters that have informed Manchester’s citizens, from proclamations and health notices to navy recruiting and movie theater advertisements.

The Old Man: His Life and Legacy

Join us for a talk about the Old Man of the Mountain, an enduring symbol of the Granite State, now over 20 years since the landmark fell. Inez McDermott presents the "story" of the Old Man and examines the ways that public perceptions of the Profile played a role in shaping and establishing New Hampshire's identity, both symbolically and physically.

Book Talk & Signing: Malice Aforethought

Manchester author Avree Kelly Clark will be visiting the Millyard Museum to discuss her debut novel, “Malice Aforethought: A True Story of the Shocking Double Crime That Horrified Nineteenth-Century New England.”
