The Manchester Historic Association (MHA) has published a new book, 101 Objects: Celebrating 130 Years of Collecting, Preserving, and Sharing Manchester’s History. Released in a year that marks both the organization’s 130th anniversary and the Millyard Museum’s 25th anniversary, the hardcover, full-color book showcases 101 items drawn from the Association’s vast collection.

“We’re really excited to launch this book that highlights some of the staff’s favorite objects in the MHA collection,” said Jeff Barraclough, MHA Executive Director. “I think readers will learn new things about Manchester’s history and be fascinated by some of the interesting things that the MHA has collected in its 130-year history.”

Some of these objects include artwork by prominent Manchester artists and furniture owned by the family of John Stark—the Revolutionary War figure who grew up in what was then Derryfield—as well as everyday items like a hotel key tag and a container for ground beef from a Manchester business.

The public is invited to an official book launch on Thursday, August 13 at 5:30 p.m., where staff will share the stories behind some of their favorite picks. The book may also be pre-ordered through Saturday, July 25 for $55.00. Beginning Tuesday, July 28, the book will be available for purchase exclusively at the Millyard Museum and the MHA Research Center for $60.00.

Open Tue – Sat, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Millyard Museum is a nonprofit dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of Manchester, New Hampshire. The Research Center is open Wednesdays and Saturdays. Visitors may drop in or schedule an appointment.
